The global pyrethroids market reached a value of US$ 3.1 Billion in 2018. Pyrethroids are synthetic modifications of naturally occurring pyrethrin which is extracted from Chrysanthemum flowers. They are primarily used to kill insects such as mosquitos, flies, ants, moths and farm pests. They have similar properties to pyrethrin but are not sensitive to sunlight. They have low toxicity to mammals or birds and are administered in small quantities to kill bugs and flying insects. They are widely used as household insecticides and have a short shelf life with biodegradable properties. Pyrethroids are used in the form of wet powders, granules, emulsifying concentrates and ultra-low volume (ULV) sprays.
