Various types of crutches and walkers are also available, such as axillary (underarm) crutches, platform crutches, Lofstrom (forearm) crutches, rollators, knee walkers and walker-cane hybrids. Although a mobility solution, walking aid has various benefits and obstacles for users to face. The use of walking aids has different benefits for its users, such as minimizing pain, increasing independence, and increasing self-esteem and trust. Obesity is one of the main health alarms in current circumstances. One of the key problems confronting corpulent individuals is the increased effort needed for walking and flexibility, and the maintenance of their general way of life autonomy. As a result, a large number of obese individuals choose to use bariatric strolling aids.

Bariatric equipment and materials are intended for stout people. The significant characteristics of bariatric walking aids are that they are meant to be heavier, more durable and larger in scale. Bariatric walking aids have raised weight limits; heavy-duty supports and is more comprehensive with the expectation that fat people will blend in. The equipment is classified as bariatric if it has a restriction of 300-900 pounds, although there is no actual weight limit suggested for bariatric gear.

The cane or walking stick is the easiest form of walking aid. It is held in the hand and directs loads through the shaft to the floor. The load that can be delivered through a cane is conveyed through the hands and wrists of the user and is restricted by these. The crutch also sends loads to the ground through the shaft, but has two points of contact with the arm, either under the elbow or under the armpit. Unlike a cane, this allows considerably higher loads to be carried out through the crutch.

Devices in the market today include a variety of variations for cane, crutches and forearm crutches. The crutches have bands that encircle the upper arms and handles to carry and allow the patient's hands to support the weight of the body. The forearm crutch usually provides support for the cane to the person, but with extra forearm support to aid in mobility. The forearm part helps to improve balance, lateral stability and also decreases wrist load.
