The 2020 edition of Heimtextil--the largest international trade fair for home and contract textiles--was held in Frankfurt, Germany, during January 7-10, 2020. The 2020 fair marked the 50th edition of Heimtextil, affirming the popularity of the event and its importance to the global home textiles industry. Textiles Intelligence visited the fair to identify the latest developments and innovations first hand.

Highlights at the fair included the awarding of the 2019 Discover Natural Fibres Initiative (DNFI) Innovation Award and the latest developments from the Social Labour Convergence Program (SLCP) in overcoming challenges associated with audits. The fair was also the first to feature a Future Materials Library, which showcased the latest developments in a broad range of environmentally sustainable materials. Several companies took the opportunity to present their latest developments and innovations at the fair, including Advansa, Biederlack, Devan Chemicals, HeiQ, Himatsingka, İpeker, Lasa Group, Lenzing and OceanSafe.
