The Slovenia infection control market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 6.77% over the forecast period 2019 to 2025. To assess the risk posed by the healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), the third national prevalence survey was conducted in Slovenia in 2017. Under this survey, the patients were enrolled in a cross-sectional study in the month of November for one day. After that, descriptive analyses were carried out in order to describe the characteristics of the admitted patients and the results of their exposure to a variety of invasive procedures and the prevalence of the different types of healthcare-associated infections. There were a total of 5,473 patients that underwent the testing [procedures, among which 4.4% of the patients showed the prevalence of at least one HAI, whereas, 2.2% of the patients were still being treated for the HAI on the survey day, making the total prevalence 6.6%. pneumonia was 1.8%, as compared to the surgical site infections which stood at 1.5%. The UTI’s were 1.2%. Moreover, in the intensive care units (ICUs), the patients who had acquired infections were 30.6%.
