Growing interest: Revenue is set to inch upwards in 2023 as rate rises boost interest income
The Irish government holds hefty stakes in some of Ireland's largest lenders. However, the Department of Finance has been divesting some of its stakes in the sector recently - the Bank of Ireland became fully privatised in 2022. Allied Irish Banks also saw a big decline in its state-owned assets, from 71% at the start of 2022 to 47% in June 2023.
