The Latin America, Middle East and Africa Satellite Data Services Market is expected to witness market growth of 28.5% CAGR during the forecast period (2020-2026).

A major advancement is anticipated in geospatial imaging analytics with the introduction of AI and big data, privatization of the spatial sector and growth of cloud computing, which are part of the market growth expectations. In major, turnkey projects, satellite data or imagery are used to evaluate their potential environmental effects, improve productivity and reduce their carbon footprint. Hyperspectral satellite images combined with field and laboratory data may be used for analyzing soil properties to obtain more accurate and quantitative soil properties, such as soil chemical properties, organic matter, mineralogical material, etc.

Usually, a base layer of reference (forest map) information is provided by satellite images with a resolution ranging between 1 m (which enables identification of single trees) to 30 m. In several cases, these satellite images exist already and can freely be used for forestry mapping purposes. Furthermore, the archive images are much cheaper than new images that have been ordered. The data on forest cover can be used to create so-called 'reference plots or field samples.' Forest owners can visit these plots in this field to collect data which cannot be directly identified by remote sensing (e.g. biomass, increase, volume, quality of timber, soil and growth conditions, potential carbon inventory, etc.). The field plots can also be used to check forest details in the satellite data.

The infrastructure of transport is focused on data communication. This can become much more effective with the addition of satellite technology and create increased opportunities for innovation. Both vehicles and infrastructure must share large quantities of data to respond instantly to changes. It may be isolated or distant from, for example, transport hubs. In order to ensure consistent and efficient data transmission, satellite communication systems must be employed. This involves remote areas and times/locations where there are little or no terrestrial communications.
