The Middle East feed enzymes market is expected to register a CAGR of 2.7% during the forecast period (2020-2025). The feed enzymes are used to help animals in easy digestion and to ensure that animals get a complete diet or nutrition from the feeds fed to them. The increasing demand for the animal protein, raising animal population and the benefits of the enzymes are correlated with the feed enzymes market which is driving the market in a positive trend. This positive trend attracts more players to enter the feed enzymes market. The industrialization for the livestock industry, increasing demand for the animal protein, a large amount of soya and corn usage as ingredients for meet manufacturing are the major drivers of feed enzymes market. However, the investment in R&D is very high that acts as a major restraint preventing small players from entering the market. The focus in the Middle East has shifted to animal husbandry owing to water shortages and water-intensive crop production including animal fodder is phased out creating new avenues for international players. This has made the Middle East a significant consumer in the feed enzymes market.

Key Market Trends

Poultry Production is Driving the Market

Three classes of enzymes, phytases, carbohydrases, and proteases are typically considered for use in poultry feeds. Phytase works by releasing some of the non-digestible phosphorus found in commonly used feed ingredients and making the nutrients available for productive purposes. Carbohydrase enzymes have been proven to be effective in increasing the amount of energy available from feed ingredients. Key carbohydrase enzymes include amylase and xylanase and are used to improve the digestibility of carbohydrates in feed ingredients. Since energy is the most expensive nutrient in the diet, the addition of amylase, xylanase, and protease enzymes to poultry diets provides producers the opportunity to reduce feed costs. The Middle East or Western Asia has seen an increase in poultry meat consumption over the years and this is likely to support the feed acidifiers market in the region.

Phytase Dominates the Market

Phytase is the most widely used feed enzyme in the world, it is included in almost 90% of poultry , and 70% of pig diets. Feed phytase was first introduced to control phosphorus pollution and improve nutrient uptake. The latest phytases go one step further, maximizing phytate destruction and producer profitability. Aquaculture and ruminant animals accounts for very low market share of feed enzymes market. Highly bio-efficacious phytase feed enzymes offer unprecedented digestibility and phytate destruction benefits, increasing the availability of phosphorus, calcium, energy and amino acids to the animal. As Middles Eastern countries have well established and continuously growing aniaml meat industry , feed enzyme market is also anticipated grow at a significant rate.

Competitive Landscape

The Middle East feed enzymes market is a fragmented market with many players in the market. BASF SE, Biocatalyst, AB Enzymes, are few international players in the market. The players in the market are taping the market potential by various activities including acquisition of other companies, investing in their R&D facilities and more.
