Vietnam's pharmaceutical industry uses about 60,000 tons of pharmaceutical materials, of which about 80-90% are imported. In 2019, Vietnam imported US $ 389.68 million of pharmaceutical raw materials and components, down 4.3% compared to the same period in 2018. In Q1/2020, Vietnam spent more than US $ 108 million on importing NPL pharmaceuticals. The country has 198 medicine factories meeting GMP standards of the World Health Organization, 11 factories have invested and reached the standards of advanced countries such as the standards of Europe, the US, Japan and PIC/S.
