Overview
Schema therapy is an innovative, integrative model, developed (by Dr. Jeffrey Young) to expand upon traditional cognitive-behavioral therapy.

The schema therapy approach draws from cognitive-behavioral therapy, attachment theory, psychodynamic concepts, gestalt therapy, and emotion-focused therapies. Schema therapy identifies and addresses lifelong patterns and utilizes experiential change strategies, with a prominent focus on the therapy relationship and special emphasis on meeting early unmet emotional needs.

Schema therapy offers a comprehensive case conceptualization-capturing the early narrative of the client to identify relevant life themes and coping patterns that get activated under here-now conditions, and to formulate a relevant treatment plan. It is particularly well suited for difficult, resistant clients with entrenched, psychological issues, including personality disorders, eating disorders, and intractable relationship problems.

Why you should Attend
Are you feeling stuck with some of your clients in the treatment room? Feeling at a loss with your current toolkit and conceptual framework? Perhaps you're dealing with the demanding and critical narcissistic client or with an angry, intrusive, defiant, avoidant, detached, or highly enmeshed client? These are just a few of the many issues that can activate our own schemas, cause us to question our adequacy as therapists, evoke fears, resentments, and ramp up our frustration.

Get inspired to learn more about this incredibly rich and robust treatment approach for treating BPD, NPD, and other Personality Disorders, as well as Chronic Symptom and Self-Defeating Pattern Challenges.
