HPSA (Health Professional Shortage Area) geographically defines who can compliantly provide Telemedicine .

This allows patients that otherwise would not have access to specialty care both inpatient and outpatient to receive it.

Distant site providers can receive payment based on Medicare policy and State laws.

Other payers have their own policies. Other codes for asynchronous care will also be discussed including Remote Patient Monitoring and electronic options such as store and forward and email communications.

Why you should Attend:

Telemedicine prior to the current Public Health Emergency (PHE) was a specific program designed for patients specified geographic sites. The program allows for patients in a controlled environment to receive a variety of services from physicians and other specified providers.

A geographic site's originating eligibility is based on the site's eligibility determined annually. Specially defined CPT codes for services are published by CMS/Medicare.

Telemedicine services have specific Place of Service and Modifier nuances in their billing requirements from CMS/Medicare that will be analyzed and discussed Other payers may allow these services and their policy guidelines may be different than Medicare's.

Other services that can be furnished remotely and electronically will also be discussed including Store & Forward and Remote Monitoring services will also be discussed in detail.
