Liquid Vaccines Segment to Register Higher CAGR in Poultry Vaccines Market During 2021-2028
According to our latest study on “Europe and Middle East & Africa Poultry Vaccines Market Forecast to 2028 - COVID-19 Impact and Analysis - by Dosage, Disease, and Technology,” the market was valued at US$ 862.80 million in 2021 and is projected to reach US$ 631.29 million by 2028; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.7% from 2021 to 2028. The report highlights the key factors driving the market and prominent players with their developments in the market.
Poultry vaccine assists averting a specific disease by accelerating birds’ immune system to generate antibodies that will battle against the invading organisms. Poultry vaccines are an essential tool for poultry disease control and prevention of viral diseases. Vaccination helps prevent or reduce the adverse effects of specific conditions that can cause problems such as infections in a poultry flock. Poultry vaccines are widely applied to avoid contagious poultry diseases and minimize the emergence of clinical disease at the farm level, thus increasing production. Zoonotic diseases, avian influenza viruses, and bird flu are the major poultry diseases.
For instance, between February and May 2021, 1,672 highly pathogenic avian influenzas (HPAI) virus detections were recorded 24 EU/EEA countries and the UK - poultry (n=580), wild (n=1,051), and captive birds (n=41). Poland accounted for the bulk of the detections in poultry, with 297 outbreaks happening in a densely populated poultry region during a short period of time, followed by Germany with 168 incidents. Most of the outbreaks in poultry appeared to be linked to cross-farm transmission and intra-community trafficking of live HPAI-infected chickens. Germany led the way with 603 wild bird detections, followed by Denmark and Poland with 167 and 56, respectively. The second peak of HPAI-associated wild bird mortality was observed from February to April 2021 in northwest Europe.
Additionally, The French Ministry of Agriculture confirmed that highly pathogenic H5N8 avian influenza had been found on a duck farm (6,000 ducks) in the town of Benesse-Mariamne in Landes. France has already detected the H5N8 virus on birds sold in three pet stores in mid-November. Investigations found that the same person had sold the wild birds in northern France. Moreover, Saudi Arabia has reported an outbreak of the highly pathogenic H5N8 avian influenza virus on a poultry farm. The outburst, which occurred in the central Sudair region, killed 22,700 birds. The other 385,300 birds in the flock were slaughtered. The case was the first outbreak of the H5N8 virus in Saudi Arabia since July 2018. Thus, the rising number of various poultry diseases have led to the increase in demand for vaccine in chickens.
Based on technology, the poultry vaccines market is bifurcated into is segmented into toxoid vaccines, recombinant vaccines, inactivated vaccines, live attenuated vaccines, others. The recombinant vaccines segment held the largest share of the market in 2020, also the same segment is anticipated to register the highest CAGR in the market during the forecast period.
Boehringer Ingelheim International GmbH; Biovac; Zoetis, Inc.; CEVA; Phibro Animal Health Corporation; Virbac; Hester Biosciences Limited; Merck & Co. Inc.; Venky’s India; and AniCon GmbH are among the key players operating in the poultry vaccines market.
