Because it can be used to see plaque, measure the effectiveness of stents and other treatments and guide interventionalists in the error-free execution of some of today’s most called-for catheter-based procedures, IVUS is one of the most important imaging tools available in the cardiac cath lab and in cardiovascular research. Written by three of today’s leading IVUS experts/educators, this new book teaches readers how to use IVUS optimally in all of the clinical scenarios in which it is commonly used. Using 24 actual patient cases as the basis for instruction, the authors guide readers from the most basic applications of IVUS through increasingly complex procedures. Each case is paired with actual IVUS images, Xrays and angiographic views that clearly show the vein, the clinical problem, and the view inside the vein before, during (as appropriate) and after a procedure or other treatment has been completed.

The book’s companion website includes video clips for each of the cases covered, enabling readers to see IVUS at work. Audio commentary by one of the authors describes what the reader is seeing and why it is important.

No other book on IVUS takes this practical, stepwise approach to explaining IVUS, which can be as difficult to master as it is invaluable in helping clinicians optimize catheter-based cardiac interventions.
