The global vinyl ester market was valued at $1.1 billion in 2020, and is projected to reach $2.1 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 6.5% from 2021 to 2030.

Vinyl ester is used as a resin and is a hybrid form of polyester resin. The polyester resin is reinforced by the addition of epoxy resin. These resins are resistant to chemically and thermally aggressive environments and withstand water absorption. In addition, vinyl ester has a high resistance to vibration forces. Vinyl ester finds its main application in the oil & gas industry, where there is a need for materials resistant to corrosion, heat, and vibrations. Vinyl ester is used to coat flue gas desulfurization. The chemical and thermal resistance properties of vinyl ester resin are higher than conventional materials such as polyester resin, which means that they can be used in pipes and tanks, rotor blades in wind turbines and in construction. Apart from this, vinyl ester further enhances the advantages of resins for corrosion resistant applications and demonstrates the manufacturing and labor savings of using composites to replace other materials.

Many developing countries are embracing wind power as an important source of green energy. Recently, developing countries have also followed this trend due to surge in environmental concerns. Vinyl ester's heat resistant nature is driving its demand in the wind energy sector. The global composite materials market is expected to grow at a higher rate during the forecast period due to increase in demand from major end-user industries. This, in turn, is expected to help drive the growth of the vinyl ester market. Major product manufacturers are investing heavily in vinyl ester production to meet the surge in demand from the storage tank and pipe industry for safer storage of volatile chemicals and explosives. However, the expensive nature of vinyl ester compounds is expected to limit the growth of the market. As vinyl ester is more expensive than its polyester and vinyl ester-based counterparts.

The vinyl ester market is segmented into type, application, and region. By type, the market is segregated into bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (DGEBA), epoxy phenol novolac (EPN), brominated fire retardant, and others. On the basis of application, it is fragmented into pipes & tanks, paints & coatings, transportation, pulp & paper, and others. Region wise, the market is analyzed across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and LAMEA.
