A water meter is a device that monitors the amount of water that flows through a pipe or other outlet. For volume, most meters utilize a conventional unit of measurement, such as cubic feet or gallons. Meter functions similar to a car odometer, noting the total quantity of water that has travelled through it. Water meters track how much water is used in residential and commercial buildings that are connected to a public water delivery system.
