PAPRs are battery-powered devices that use a blower to pull air through attached filters (for particles) or cartridges to clean it before delivering it to the wearer's breathing zone. For powered air-purifying respirators, the only type of particulate filter available is high-efficiency (HE). PAPRs have the advantage of having a low breathing resistance while providing a high level of protection. If equipped with the appropriate cartridge, canister, or filter, PAPRs can be used to protect against gases, vapors, or particles. PAPRs are generally more protective than non-powered half-mask respirators because, under most working circumstances, the blower creates positive pressure inside the facepiece, reducing inward leakage of potentially contaminated air. Because these respirators do not obtain o2 from sources other than the working environment, they cannot be used in an immediately dangerous to life or oxygen-deficient health environment. The best respirator for a given circumstance will be determined by the environment and the contaminant. Filtering facepiece respirators (FFRs) remove particles from the user's respiratory tract airstream. They are sometimes referred to as "N95 respirators." They are also known as disposable respirators because the entire respirator is discarded when it is no longer appropriate due to hygienic practices, excessive resistance, or physical damage. Respirators with a half facepiece or a quarter facepiece are reusable devices with replaceable cartridges or filtration. The silicone or rubber facepiece forms a seal against the user's face. The half respirator's facepiece, like disposable FFRs, must establish a good seal against the user's face, concealing the nose and mouth; thus, the match-up is required. The attached cartridges and filters are easily replaceable. If equipped with the appropriate filters and/or cartridges, elastomeric respirators can be used to protect against gases, vapors, and/or particles.

Growth Driver

An increasing number of major infrastructural development, such as hotel and medical hospital construction, and the rapid growth of floor space advancement in multiple industries has resulted in an increase in construction and renovation projects across the region. As a result, it is expected to be that the growing construction industry is anticipated to boost powered air-purifying respirator demand. According to WHO, the Europe region has decreased the life expectancy of every person by an average of 1 year almost due to exposure to particulate matter. This is because of the increased risk of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, lung cancer, etc., owing to the increase in pollution and bad air quality in the region. It is expected that the demand for cleaner air to breathe which is not contaminated can boost the growth of powered air-purifying respirators in the region. The growing population is expected to play a crucial role in market growth. As the population grows, so will the awareness and need to meet the demand for contamination-free air quality, owing to the rise of the powered air-purifying respirator market. Europe's population is expected to reach nearly 748 million, or 747,636,026 people, on July 1, 2020. Europe is the 3rd most populous continent in the world.

COVID-19 Impact

Due to stringent government regulations and a complete shutdown, many businesses, supply chain units, manufacturing, and construction industry have been impacted by COVID-19. According to the national statistics office, construction output in the region has experienced a record drop of 16.3 percent in 2020 due to the jolts of coronavirus, which is expected to impact the demand for powered air respirators in the region.

Regional Analysis

The powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) market in Europe is divided into Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, and Others. Germany is expected to have a significant market share due to its large manufacturing sector and is expected to grow rapidly. During the forecast period, the United Kingdom will also see a significant market expansion of powered air-purifying respirators.
