The Global Textile Machinery Market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.6% during the forecast period of 2022-2027.

The entire supply chain of the textile industry, like all other industries, has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic which has been going on since the beginning of 2020, and all actors of the industry including textile machinery manufacturers experienced various difficulties.

While this situation brought problems such as shortage of raw materials, price increases and disruptions in the supply chain, the pent-up demands in this period resulted in an increase and recovery in orders in 2021. The important and major changes created by the pandemic in daily life have also brought concepts such as sustainability, circular production and digitalization into the focus of manufacturers’ investments and decisions.

The world’s leading textile machinery and technology manufacturers anticipate that the increasing momentum and sustainable production-oriented developments in 2021 will continue in 2022 and that the sector will revive with the organization of numerous international exhibitions.

Key Market Trends

India- A Leading Destination

The Indian textile machinery industry is experiencing a tremendous growth, facilitated by the country’s booming textile and apparel market. Currently, the textile machinery industry plays an increasingly vital part in shifting India’s textile and apparel industry from labour-intensive production to a more advanced and industrialized sector. With growing demand of textile machinery in both domestic and international markets, the Indian textile machinery industry is expected to have a greater development in near future.

The spinning machinery segment is expected to be the fastest growing textile machinery segment in India over the next five years. Much of this segment’s growth can be attributed to the expansion of the country’s spinning machinery. High demand for cotton exports and the expansion of spinning machinery capacities will help India to maintain an increasingly high demand for spinning machinery over the next few years.

Italy- Key Exporter

Italy holds a strong position as one of the main suppliers of textile machinery in the world, together with Germany, Japan, China and Switzerland. Italy’s market share of the world exports of textile machinery is about 11%. According to the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT), creativity, sustainable technology, reliability and quality are the characteristics that have made Italy a leader in the manufacturing of textile machinery. There are approximately 300 companies who produce textile machines and related accessories, for a total of about 12,000 employees.

The index of orders intake for Itlian textile machinery for the fourth quarter of 2021, processed by the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT) has shown a 43 per cent upturn compared to the fourth quarter of 2020. In absolute terms, the index stood at 127.9 points. This growth was spurred on by both the Italian and foreign markets.

Thus, 2022 is expected to be a year in which optimism and foreboding still prevail for the Italian textile machinery sector, pending ITMA 2023, the world’s most important textile machinery exhibition, is scheduled to be held in Milan in June 2023.
