Chile Construction Market Size, Trends, and Forecasts by Sector - Commercial, Industrial, Infrastructure, Energy and Utilities, Institutional and Residential Market Analysis to 2030 (H2 2026)

Summary

Following two consecutive years of soft growth, the analyst expects the Chilean construction industry to grow by 3.7% in real terms in 2026, supported by a rise in foreign direct investments (FDI), coupled with favorable interest rates and the government’s focus on renewable energy projects. The Banco Central de Chile reported in early July 2026 that the country received a total inflow of FDI totaling CLP9.6 trillion ($9.9 billion) during the first five months of 2026, marking a sharp increase of 53% year-on-year (YoY). According to the Central Bank, the housing interest rate continued to cool throughout the first half of 2026, with rate falling from 4.12% in January to 3.98% in April, and 3.97% in June 2026. The Ministry of Energy reported 138 energy projects under construction, with a combined value of CLP11.3 trillion ($11.7 billion), as of April 2026. This includes 4.6GW of energy storage projects, 2.3GW of solar projects, and 793MW of wind projects. However, a weaker construction labor market, along with higher energy prices and rising construction material prices, is likely to constrain the output of the Chilean construction industry over the short term.

Over the remainder of the forecast period, Chile’s construction industry is expected to grow at an annual average rate of 4.7% between 2027 and 2030, supported by investment in infrastructure, and water projects, coupled with the government’s target to produce 70% of the country’s electricity from renewable sources by 2030 and become carbon neutral by 2050. In late July 2026, the Ministry of Energy forecasted that the country could install new solar projects ranging from 27GW to 58GW by 2057. In April 2026, the Finnish energy company Korkia announced an investment of around CLP1.2 trillion ($1.3 billion) for the construction of eight energy projects with a combined generation capacity of 2GW.
