The micro irrigation method is one of the newest methods of farming. Micro irrigation is a low-pressure, low-flow-rate type of irrigation that can reduce the likelihood of overwatering a landscape. This form of irrigation delivers water directly to where it is needed most - the root zone of plants. The micro irrigation method has two categories: drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation method. Both convey the water to plants, but they do the same job in different ways. With a drip irrigation system, water is conveyed under pressure through a pipe system to the fields, where it drips slowly onto the soil through emitters or drippers, which are located close to the plants. On the other hand, the sprinkler irrigation system works as normal rainfall, i.e., water flow passes around through a system of pipes mainly by pumping. It is then divided through sprinklers so that it splits up into tiny water drops that fall to the ground. The drip irrigation system originated in Israel by Israeli engineer created this system when he found a tree that was growing without a follow-up of water, but later, at that point, he found that there was a small pipe feeding it small amounts of water. Because of these findings, Simcha Blass innovated the micro irrigation system to water the agricultural fields.

According to the report titled, Mexico Micro Irrigation System Market Overview, 2027, the Mexican micro irrigation market is observed to be growing at an expected CAGR of 8.74%. The Mexican micro irrigation system market is impacted by many factors like recession and inflation that happened during COVID-19 times. The Mexican market is observed to be giving a stable return. Considering the requirement for better yielding crops, the Mexican farmers are using the modern methods of irrigation or the modern methods of farming.

Amongst all the micro irrigation system types, the drip irrigation system is one of the cheapest irrigation systems that can be afforded by most farmers. This system is the most useful as it uses the required water. And since 50% of the Mexican region is facing water scarcity, this micro irrigation system is useful for the nation as well to save water. The crops produced using this system give a better-quality yield. Drip irrigation is the largest market, with around 68% of the total market share.

Furthermore, for the by crop type market, amongst all the crops considered in the report, the orchards and vineyards market are examined to show the growth in the upcoming years. The orchards and vineyards are the most in demand because of the increased demand for Mexican wine. The vineyards use the five basic stages or steps to make wine: harvesting, crushing and pressing; fermentation; clarification; and then ageing and bottling. Therefore, the vineyard market is stated to be the fastest growing market. Besides, plantation crops like coffee can also be considered as the market driver for the by crop type market. The coffee plantation is one such driver for the plantation crop that can result in the major exports of the coffee plant in the future and will show its pretty market attractiveness.

Moreover, by end-user type, the market is driven by the farmers, as the farmers are the major users of the micro-irrigation system. The farmers use the micro irrigation system in the fields to get better yields and propel the agricultural growth for the future. Most farmers use drip irrigation because it has the advantage of soil infiltration capacity. For farmers, the major source of revenue generation is the crops. Mexico is known as the cradle of agriculture, with developed domesticated plants such as maize, beans, etc. The compound annual growth rate for farmers is stated to be more than 9% in the forecasted year. The rise of the food industry led to an increase in the number of industrial end users.

As stated earlier, every factor affects the market. One such factor is the COVID-19. The pandemic affected almost every market in the world. The recession took place, businesses shut down and almost every economy was observing slower growth. One such market, or the sector that was majorly concerned, was the agricultural market, which is the major source for people to gain food. Mexico’s agriculture sector has been durable during the pandemic. Not only is it a sector with inherent production potential, but it is also vital for reducing poverty. To let people consume food, the government gave freedom to the farmers to work in the fields, but the major issue here is the maintenance of the micro irrigation systems. That is, if any part of the irrigation system was damaged in the fields and required urgent repair, there were no such people available to fix it as half of the nation was in lockdown. So, not only the recession and inflation but also several normal factors of COVID-19 affected the micro irrigation market.
