The North America Catheters Market is expected to witness market growth of 7.7% CAGR during the forecast period (2022-2028).

A thin hydrophilic surface coating is found on some catheters. This coating expands to a smooth, slippery film when submerged in water, making the catheters healthier and more comfortable to implant. Torque devices are employed to control the orientation and spin of this wire because it is too slippery to handle. In subintimal angioplasty, it is beneficial. However, caution should be exercised because it is easy to cause vascular wall dissection.

Angiography methods employ a variety of catheters. Wires are guided via blood arteries by diagnostic catheters. The radiocontrast agent is then delivered through the catheter to allow imaging technologies such as computerized tomography (CT), projection radiography, and fluoroscopy to visualize the vessels.

A needle is used to insert the catheter into the vein, which is then removed while the little plastic cannula stays in effect. The catheter is subsequently secured to the patient's skin with tape or an adhesive bandage. The most prevalent type of vascular access in medicine is a peripheral venous catheter. It's given to most ER and surgical patients, as well as before various radiological imaging procedures that use radiocontrast. In the 1990s, more than 25 million individuals in the United States received a peripheral venous line per year.

Indwelling urinary catheters are common medical devices used to treat urine retention and incontinence in both hospitals and nursing homes. One-quarter of the over 100 million catheters sold each year are sold in the United States. The Foley indwelling urethral catheter, a closed sterile system consisting of a tube put into the urethra and maintained in place by an inflating balloon to allow urinary drainage of the bladder, is the most often used urinary catheter. Although indwelling catheters were originally intended for short-term usage in patients, they are now commonly used in the long-term context.
