The Europe Electric Traction Motor Market is expected to witness market growth of 11.0% CAGR during the forecast period (2022-2028).

One traction motor driving each axle with a gear drive is currently considered best practice.  As a "nose-suspended traction motor," the traction motor is typically three-point suspended between both the driven axle and the bogie frame. The issue with this configuration is that some of the motor's weight is rotational inertia, producing undesirable track forces. In the instance of the renowned Pennsylvania Railroad GG1, each axle was driven by a quill drive using two frame-mounted motors.

Direct drive motors were used in the "Bi-Polar" electric locomotives that General Electric constructed for Milwaukee Road. The motor's rotating shaft doubled as the wheels' axle. In the case of French TGV-powered vehicles, a motor connected to the frame of the power car powers each axle; a "tripod" drive offers a modest amount of mobility in the drive train, enabling the trucks' bogies to rotate. Improved dynamics are obtained, allowing for better high-speed performance, by installing the comparatively heavy traction engine connected to the power car's frame as opposed to the bogie.

Several European governments have established challenging goals for the reduction of carbon emissions and stock requirements for electric vehicles by 2020. To allow interoperability among different electric vehicles across the region, some European nations, including France and Belgium, are concentrating on developing the infrastructure needed for electric vehicle charging. Despite a rise in the proportion of legal ULEV vehicles on UK roads, just a small portion of all licensed vehicles are ULEVs.

The Germany market dominated the Europe Electric Traction Motor Market by Country in 2021, and is expected to continue to be a dominant market till 2028; thereby, achieving a market value of $1,593.7 million by 2028.The UK market is anticipated to grow at a CAGR of 10.1% during (2022 - 2028). Additionally, The France market is expected to exhibit a CAGR of 11.9% during (2022 - 2028).
