Compared to a conventional pipe-style burner, a ribbon burner is more durable, quieter, and more efficient. There is no steel in the forge, thus there is no scaling or deterioration of the burner parts. The forge which has two of these burners has a volume of around 7,000 cubic inches. The ribbon burner measures 12 14" long, 3" broad, and 4 12" deep. Steel tubing measuring 3" x 3" and 3/16" thick makes up the plenum. The refractory is punctured 32 times, and the inlet measures 1 9/16" on the inside and 1 7/8" on the outside.

The refractory has a temperature rating of above 3,000 degrees. These burners have been operating for years with no obvious evidence of wear or damage. Before their widespread use in cogeneration and combined cycle systems, linear and in-duct burners were utilized for many years to heat air in drying operations. Some of the first systems fired into a recirculating processing airstream after premixing fuel and air in a frequently complex setup.

Early in the 1960s, it was used for the first time in high-temperature, low-oxygen streams downstream of gas turbines to supply extra steam for industrial processes and electrical peaking plants running steam turbines. The amount of supplemental heat input from duct burners has increased in tandem with the size and efficiency of gas turbines.

The UAE produces 3 million gallons of oil and other liquids daily on average, and its oil reserves total 100 billion barrels. The production of oil and gas, which makes up approximately 13% of all exports and accounts for around 30% of the nation's GDP, is the primary driver of the export sector. The majority of the UAE government's income comes from royalties and oil industry earnings. The traditional oil and gas extraction industry is being developed by the United Arab Emirates.

In 2020, the UAE claimed to have found more than 80 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves at Jebel Ali. By 2030, the government wants to be self-sufficient in gas, however, it now imports gas through the Dolphin pipeline from Qatar. For the production of oil and gases, an industrial burner plays a crucial for the production of the oil which accelerates the adoption of industrial burners.
