Launched in 2018, Toyota Research Institute Advanced Development (TRI AD) is a software and technology company aimed at developing fully integrated software for automated driving. The unit formed in collaboration between Toyota, Aisin, and Denso. It consists of a team who will operate in co-ordination with Toyota Research Institute and leverage automation, artificial intelligence, analytics, and telematics technologies for new product and services development. In January 2021, it expanded its operations into a holding company and two operating companies.

The company worked with Infosys leveraging Infosys Cobalt to modernize its Vehicle Data warehouse in a next-generation data lake on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
