The construction industry in the US is expected to grow by 1.1% in real terms in 2026, supported by a return to growth in residential building and higher public and private investment in renewable energy and transport infrastructure. Under FY2026 (October 1, 2025-September 30, 2026), the government approved $21.2 billion for public transit in January 2026, a 1.5% increase on FY2025. The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) notes that the budget places greater emphasis on Capital Investment Grants (CIG), with 54 projects currently in the CIG pipeline valued at $96.2 billion. In addition, preliminary US Bureau of Economic Analysis data show total FDI inflows of $288 billion in 2025, up 3.3% year on year (YoY).

Growth over the forecast period will also be supported by the development of manufacturing infrastructure and semiconductor projects. In early July 2025, the American semiconductor company - Texas Instruments - announced its plan to invest $60 billion for the construction of seven semiconductor factories across three manufacturing mega-sites in Utah and Texas by the end of 2032. The governments of both the US and Taiwan signed a trade and investment agreement in January 2026, under which, Taiwan-based technology and semiconductor companies will invest at least $250 billion for the construction of chip factories and increase chip production capacity in US.
