The construction industry in Brazil is expected to grow by 2.5% in real terms in 2025, supported by a rise in infrastructure investment, coupled with expansions in residential, industrial and energy sectors. Despite hiked US Tariffs at 50% - made effective August 8th - Chinese demand remains a key external driver of Brazil’s construction pipeline. While President Lulu’s rhetoric suggests incoming Brazilian levies on Chinese exports (to appease US relations), BYD - China’s largest EV producer - have been capitalising on tariff exemptions by expanding manufacturing operations in Brazil. Ultimately, Brazil’s governance will continue to prioritise diversify investment sources to achieve domestic construction targets. New Federal tax exemptions to encourage data centre investment exemplify this trend, whereby Sau Paulo already boasts investment from US tech giants such as Amazon and Meta.

Moving forward, The analyst expects Brazil’s construction industry to record an average annual growth rate of 4% from 2026 to 2029, supported by increasing investments in transport infrastructure, renewable energy and housing units. Growth in the road infrastructure will be supported by the government’s focus on attracting BRL161 billion ($29.7 billion) in investments as part of the New Growth Acceleration Program (New PAC) for upgrading 8.4km of federal and state highways. In mid-July 2025, the Federation of Industries of the State of Minas Gerais (FIEMG) reported that the state is expected to attract BRL100 billion ($18.5 billion) by 2032 and BRL513 billion ($94.7 billion) by 2056, featuring a total of 4,582 projects. This comprehensive initiative targets key infrastructure sectors, including highways, railways, airports, pipelines, and waterways; of the total, BRL4 billion ($738.4 million) will be invested in road concession projects
