Over the remainder of the forecast period, the Egyptian construction industry is expected to register an annual average growth of 6.5% between 2027 and 2030, supported by investments in transport infrastructure, renewable energy and industrial projects. Growth will also be driven by the government’s plan to increase the renewable energy’s share in its total energy mix to over 45% by 2030 and 60% by 2040, from approximately 12% in 2024. Among recent developments, in April 2026, Dutch renewable energy developer Infinity Power revealed its intention to secure financing support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the construction of a 1GW Nefer Menya hybrid project in the Menya Governorate. Scheduled for completion in 2027, the project will also feature a 600MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) facility. Furthermore, in April 2026, the EBRD approved an EGP3.3 billion ($65 million) loan to local renewable energy investment company Hassan Allam Utilities (HAU) Energy to develop a 200MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant co-located with a 120MWh BESS in Benban. Additionally, in April 2026, construction began on an EGP5.1 billion ($100 million) dry port project in 10th of Ramadan City. The port facility, which will be developed on a 189,000m² site, will have an annual capacity of 400,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU). Construction is expected to be completed in 2027.
