Very little has changed since the previous quarter on the thematic screen of the publisher's IT infrastructure sector scorecard. As in Q1, the top 13 companies are all headquartered in the US, with Lenovo maintaining its position as the highest-ranked non-US company, in 14th spot.

Key Highlights

The order of the top three is also unchanged, with Microsoft leading the thematic ranking ahead of Amazon and Cisco. Both Microsoft and Amazon have scores of 5 out of 5 for the everything as a service theme, a particularly important theme for the IT infrastructure sector, with a weighting of 15%. Two other themes on the thematic screen have a 15% weighting: cybersecurity and programmable infrastructure.
Also ranked in the top 10 on the thematic screen are chip giants Intel and Nvidia and Alphabet, Google's parent company. VMware, currently in sixth place, is the subject of a takeover bid by Broadcom, which sits in 11th place. The deal has been approved by the European Commission and the UK's competition authority, leaving the US Federal Trade Commission as the last remaining hurdle.
