  • Twitch accounts were collected via open sources using the following search methods:

  • Twitch account collection via other social media: YouTube, Facebook, Telegram, Discord, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and Reddit.
  • The collected accounts’ popularity was evaluated based on the following metrics:
  • Streams Charts:
  • Channel Data Quality - an estimation of the channel's data, mainly based on Average Viewers and stream numbers.

Disclaimers

The study contains accounts that take part in the formation of the gambling community. The study did not specifically collect gambling-only accounts. The list includes bloggers and streamers who write about gambling or are known to engage in gambling activities. The collected information does not claim absolute completeness and is intermediate in the planned research cycle.

Additional insights:

  • The data were collected for the period from February 2 to March 4;
  • Indicators such as Peak Viewers, Average Viewers, Daily Airtime Average, Average Daily Viewers, and Daily Hours Watched were not taken into account during calculations:
  • Said indicators are less dependent on account owner’s actions;
  • Virtual Casino, Sports, Sports Betting Simulator, and Poker Club are not gambling-exclusive categories and are used by streamers for other purposes, especially in countries where gambling activities are prohibited. For this reason, all the listed accounts can potentially be banned in the future;
  • 41 channels were already banned/deleted during dataset collection.

Conclusions

  • For the “Conclusions” section, the data is sorted into several groups as can be seen below.
  • During the study, a dataset of 2505 Twitch accounts associated with gambling was formed.
  • Reports were generated for 3 categories based on the “Top Category by HW” indicator:
  • Dominant Gambling - accounts streaming predominantly for the “Gambling” category;
  • Partial Gambling - accounts streaming for other, non-gambling-related categories, that have been documented to advertise gambling products and services;
  • Undetermined - accounts that cannot be classified into either of the categories listed above.
