Scope

  • Tesla collects a range of data from its vehicles and analyses them on its servers for different purposes such as detecting and resolving issues in its vehicles and developing new products and services. For instance, Tesla analyzed real-time data from its vehicles to fix the problem of overheating which was caused by power fluctuations. Tesla resolved the issue with a software update that was sent over the air to all Tesla vehicles. The company also used data collected from vehicle sensors to develop an accurate map, self-driving technologies as well as an insurance policy.
  • Tesla rolled out cloud-based Profiles feature that enables Tesla drivers to upload their preferred settings onto the cloud and transfer them to other Tesla vehicles. Drivers will be able to transfer several preferences such as interior temperature, display brightness, high beam setting etc. to other Tesla vehicles. This will allow drivers to easily transit between vehicles, especially when they hire a Tesla from a car rental company or buy a new Tesla.
  • Tesla has developed requisite artificial intelligence hardware and software for assisting drivers and launching fully autonomous electric vehicles in future. The company has equipped all its cars with an AI-powered driver assistance system called Autopilot and offers a full self-driving (FSD) computer to users for an additional amount of money. The autopilot feature matches the speed of a vehicle based on the traffic density and assists the driver in steering his/her vehicle.
