A Benchmarking System to Spark Companies to Action - Innovation that Fuels New Deal Flow and Growth Pipelines

This Frost Radar™ evaluates companies that design and manufacture small, all-electric vertical takeoff and land (VTOL) uncrewed aerial systems (UAS). A small UAS, for the purpose of this research service, is an uncrewed aircraft that has a maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) of less than 55 pounds and can carry 5 pounds or more.

The 55-pound limit was chosen because that is the maximum weight at which an uncrewed aircraft can operate under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 107. Part 107 is the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA's) regulatory framework that allows certified drone pilots to offer services for hire.

The analyst analyzes numerous companies in an industry. Those selected for further analysis based on their leadership or other distinctions are benchmarked across 10 Growth and Innovation criteria to reveal their position on the Frost Radar™. The publication presents competitive profiles of each company on the Frost Radar™ considering their strengths and the opportunities that best fit those strengths.
