Background checks are a routine part of the hiring process. Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI), however, is highly protected, and Chapter 151B anti-discrimination protections restrict what employers can ask about CORI on applications and during interviews. Background checks are also subject to stringent requirements under the Federal Credit Reporting Act.
