The battery cooling plate market is witnessing strong growth primarily due to the rapid expansion of the electric vehicle (EV) industry.

As global automotive OEMs accelerate the shift toward electrification, the demand for efficient battery thermal management systems has surged. Cooling plates play a critical role in maintaining optimal battery temperature, especially in high-performance EVs and fast-charging conditions. The increasing penetration of battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles is therefore a fundamental driver fueling market expansion.

In 2025, with EV sales surging to approximately 20.7 million units worldwide. This represents a 20% increase over 2024, pushing the global market share of electric cars to a point where roughly one in every five new vehicles sold is electric. China continues to anchor this demand, accounting for 12.9 million of those sales, while Europe saw a significant resurgence with 4.3 million units sold. This massive influx of battery-powered vehicles on the road creates a direct, structural requirement for cooling plates, as every modern long-range EV requires high-precision thermal management to function safely.

The rapid rollout of high-power infrastructure is further intensifying the technical requirements for these components. The deployment of ultra-fast DC chargers, capable of delivering 150 kW to 350 kW, became the standard for new highway networks. These charging speeds generate immense internal heat that can degrade battery chemistry within minutes if not mitigated. Consequently, automakers are moving away from basic cooling designs toward advanced liquid-cooled plates that maintain cell temperatures within a strict window of 15°C to 35°C, ensuring that vehicles like the Tesla Model Y or the Volvo EX90 can sustain peak charging rates without thermal throttling.

Technological shifts in battery architecture are also fundamentally changing how cooling plates are integrated into the vehicle. The industry saw the widespread adoption of Cell-to-Pack (CTP) and Cell-to-Body (CTB) designs by major manufacturers such as BYD and CATL. By eliminating traditional module housings, these architectures place the battery cells in direct contact with large-area cooling plates that also serve as structural components of the chassis. This integration reduces vehicle weight and improves energy density but requires cooling plates with much higher structural integrity and tighter manufacturing tolerances to prevent coolant leaks into the high-voltage environment.
