All fired up with nowhere to go: Low output growth and falling export prices will shaft revenue

Australia has a large supply of mineral, hydrocarbon and non-mineral reserves, which the Mining division extracts, processes and sells. These reserves are often high quality and close to the Earth's surface, enabling Australia's Mining division to be globally price competitive. The division is export oriented, with exports accounting for around 70% of division revenue. Soaring global energy prices have boosted the value of coal and liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports, pushing division revenue higher. Division revenue is expected to increase at an annualised 13.0% over the five years through 2022-23, to $527.2 billion. This includes anticipated growth of 5.1% in 2022-23, as the value of coal and LNG exports rise further.

The Mining division includes all operations that mainly extract or explore for minerals or hydrocarbons (oil and gas) and provide a variety of services to firms engaged in these activities.

This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
