This new 3-hour program highlights recent developments in this rapidly-changing field of law, and looks forward to how the LGBTQ+ legal landscape is likely to develop next.
Participants gain an understanding of the major developments in the field of LGBTQ+ law since the Supreme Court’s 2015 marriage equality decision in Obergefell v. Hodges. The faculty discuss the major constitutional and statutory protections that apply to LGBTQ+ people on the federal level, as well as state-level protections in Massachusetts and elsewhere. Participants gain an understanding of the legal challenges currently facing members of the LGBTQ+ community, and what the near future of LGBTQ+ advocacy looks like.
