Employment Law Issues for Gig Workers

  • Training

The emerging gig economy is booming and with it, its workforce. The result is a profound change in the way companies hire, train, pay, and manage their workers. But how do these changes fit within the existing federal and state laws and regulations? The growing gig economy raises a host of legal and policy issues for both employers and workers ranging from classification issues to mandatory arbitration clauses in gig worker agreements.

This program gives an overview of the current state of the law, how various governing bodies on the state and federal levels have grappled with companies and workers in the gig economy, and how each side can protect themselves and navigate changing employment laws in this arena.
