Construction Market Size, Trends and Growth Forecasts by Regions and Countries, 2026-2030 (Q3 2026)

Summary

This report provides a detailed analysis of the prospects for the global construction industry up to 2030.

Global construction output is set to contract for a second consecutive year in 2026, with the analyst forecasting a decline of 1.8% in real terms, following a 0.3% fall in 2025. The headline figure is dominated by the single largest market, China, where construction output is expected to fall by 9.0% in 2026, as the property downturn intensifies. China’s downgrade in growth accounts for almost the entire downward revision in global output compared with the previous quarter, as excluding the largest market from global output figures would lead to growth of 1.4% in 2026.

The outlook over the remainder of the forecast period is more positive. The analyst expects global construction output to return to growth of 1.3% in 2027, before accelerating to 3.4% in 2028 and averaging 3.6% a year in 2029-30. Infrastructure and energy and utilities construction are expected to lead, both growing at an annual average rate of 3.4% between 2027 and 2030, supported by structural investment in the energy transition, grid expansion, digital infrastructure, and supply-chain reconfiguration, alongside large transport programs in South Asia, South-East Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Gulf.
