The construction industry in Angola is expected to register an annual average growth rate of 5.7% between 2027 and 2030, supported by investments in the transport infrastructure, mining, and energy sectors. The World Bank has approved a AOA1.2 trillion ($1.1 billion) financial package, in March 2026, to support the country’s structural reforms and economic diversification, through public finance management. The funds received will be used to develop the Lobito Corridor, which is a 1,300km long railway and infrastructure project, connecting the port of Lobito in Angola with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Zambia. Previously, in December 2025, a Portuguese construction company Mota-Engil has secured AOA241.4 billion ($214 million) financing from the World Bank to develop roads, water networks, and logistics hubs across six Angolan provinces. The project also covers the rehabilitation of 420km of national and secondary roads connecting the coastal city of Benguela, including the installation of solar-powered water treatment units in the areas of Luanda by 2030. Growth over the forecast period will also be bolstered by the government’s aim to generate 73% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2027.
