His research journey began in 1999 at Al-Rasheed Military Teaching Hospital, focusing on innovative surgical procedures for liver hydatid cysts. His work on Omentoplasty has notably improved patient outcomes. As Director of the National Center for Early Detection of Cancer, he established Iraq's first Department of Cancer Research. Dr. Mahmood leads international research initiatives on breast cancer in Iraq, Lebanon, and Egypt.
