Carlo Vancheri University of Catania, Italy. Carlo Vancheri, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of Catania, Sicily, Italy. He heads the University of Catania Institute of Respiratory Diseases at Policlinico G. Rodolico-San Marco.

He directs the Regional Referral Centre for Rare Lung Diseases, the Laboratory of Experimental Respiratory Medicine, the post-graduate School of Respiratory Diseases, and the PhD course in Translational Biomedicine. A former visiting professor at Diderot University, Paris, and research fellow at McMaster University, Canada, he holds a medical degree and postgraduate degree in Respiratory Diseases from the University of Catania and a PhD from the University of Naples.

Professor Vancheri's clinical and research interests focus on interstitial lung diseases, particularly pulmonary fibrosis, studying its pathogenesis and exploring new treatment approaches. He has been involved in various research projects and international networks, gaining expertise in precision medicine. Paolo Spagnolo School of Specialization in Respiratory Medicine, University of Padua, Italy. Paolo Spagnolo, MD, PhD, is a Full Professor of Respiratory Medicine and Head of the Respiratory Unit at the University Hospital of Padua, Italy. He directs the Residency Program in Respiratory Medicine at the University of Padua. Dr. Spagnolo completed his MD and residency at the University Hospital of Bari and joined the Royal Brompton Hospital in London in 2002. He earned his PhD from Imperial College London with a thesis on sarcoidosis genetics. He served as a research fellow and Assistant Professor at the University Hospital of Modena, focusing on rare lung diseases. From 2015 to 2024, he was an Associate Professor at the University Hospital of Padua. His research interests include idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and sarcoidosis. Dr. Spagnolo has authored over 200 publications and is the editor-in-chief of "Sarcoidosis, Vasculitis and Diffuse Lung Diseases." He holds leadership roles in WASOG and the European Respiratory Society.
