The global tunnel construction projects pipeline, as tracked by the analyst, currently stands at $1.2 trillion, comprising projects at all stages of development, from announcement to execution. This reflects a quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) increase of 1.6% in the project pipeline, compared to $1.16 trillion in the Q1 2026 update. By region, Western Europe leads investment in tunnel infrastructure, with a pipeline valued at $334.6 billion - equivalent to 28.4% of the global value of tunnel projects - followed by North-East Asia, with a project pipeline valued at $287.2 billion. Of the pipeline, projects currently in the pre-planning stages (announcement and study) have a value of $150 billion, while those in the planning stage have a value of $167.8 billion. Comparatively, projects currently in the pre-execution stages (design, tender, and award) total $184.5 billion, while those in the execution stage account for more than half of pipeline value, at 57.4% or $675.8 billion.
