Course overview

Martyn's Law, formally known as the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 will come into effect in 2027. The legislation will impact certain venues and events where large numbers of people gather.

This live training course aims to help attendees understand the principles of Martyn's Law and to consider how they can create proportionate and practical approaches to enhancing public safety and security.

The course will work systematically through the requirements of the law and what it means.

Included at no extra cost: a follow-up one-to-one consultation with Jodie Read

After the course, each organisation represented will be offered a separate 30-minute consultation with specialist Martyn’s Law adviser Jodie Read. This will give you the opportunity to discuss how the law applies to your premises or event and consider practical next steps for your organisation.

Speakers

Jodie Read

Jodie Read, Managing Director of Penarth Management Limited, joined the business as a Consultant in 2000 and became the Managing Director in 2006. She is actively involved in quality, environmental, health and safety, information security and business continuity compliance consultancy and training, whilst also being responsible for managing the teams who are assigned to look after clients. Jodie is also the lead contact for Mango Compliance Software implementation projects.

Following the publication of the Public Inquiry from the attack on Manchester Arena, Jodie identified a number of missed opportunities in relation to compliance. Recognising that the introduction of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill, colloquially known as “Martyn’s Law” after Martyn Hett, one of the 22 innocent victims of the attack, will present challenges for some organisations, Jodie founded The Protect Alliance (UK) and is working extensively with like-minded businesses who share her passion to help organisations to implement simple but robust processes to ensure that they can meet their legal and moral duty to protect people.
