Nongfu Spring Co Ltd had over 5,000 vending machines by the end of August 2015 and planned to set up 30,000 nationwide in 2016. Shenzhen C’est Bon Food & Beverage Co Ltd surpassed Nongfu Spring Co Ltd to lead bottled water off-trade value sales and took an off-trade volume share of 10% in 2016. The company’s success is mainly due to the powerful sales channels and its leadership in Guangdong province, which is big in terms of the labour market. A large number of migrant workers drink C’est Bon in Guangdong. Brand awareness also extends when these migrant workers go back to their home towns. Moreover, rising investment in advertising, especially digital marketing, also boosts brand awareness across the country. In 2015, C’est Bon undertook some promotions aiming to improve the profitability of dealers, which also attracted more dealers to join in the distribution and expanded the distribution channels.

Still spring bottled water is expected to see higher growth than the industry average over the forecast period. Along the way, when Nongfu Spring Co Ltd surpassed Ting Hsin International Group in bottled water in 2016, the benefit of drinking natural spring water has been embedded into the public consciousness.
