Technological advancements are enabling new opportunities in the membranes market. Recent research on membrane proteins showed a better way for drug development and testing. At the University of Arkansas, scientists analyzed a membrane protein that can separate drugs from a cell, allowing contribution to drug resistance. Membrane fouling has always been a challenge. Researches are showing advancements here too to overcome the fouling problem. At the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), scientists developed a reactive membrane system that has the ability to degrade emerging pollutant and reduce fouling.
