Obesity is one of the most common universal chronic disease in need of new approaches for medical treatment and prevention. It's a condition in which excess body fat gets accumulated to such an extent that it shows negative effect on health. They exhibit a high number of antioxidants that facilitates the biochemical metabolism of the body and are also considered as effective fat burner. With the introduction and exposure to slimming tea, the way of living among people have been changing.

There are two types of tea i.e. Regular and Non-Regular tea. The non-regular tea generally comprises of Green, Herbal, White and Oolong tea. The regular tea includes black tea which contains caffeine and very low volume of antioxidants which makes it harmful, if consumed largely. The non-regular tea contains antioxidants such as Polyphenols (Catechin) which is a natural antioxidant, found mostly in plants. These antioxidants eliminate free radicals, which are a normal product of metabolism and result in a process called oxidation in humans and plants. The oxidation process can damage healthy cells in the body have been linked to many diseases like cancer, heart disease and stroke. Polyphenols, not only work to prevent these diseases but may also help to reduce abnormal cells. The number one source for polyphenols is green tea and slightly lesser in other slimming teas.

Growing consumer awareness regarding various health benefit offered by tea polyphenols has been one of the major factors driving the market.
