Global IP (Industrial Production) Watch

Global IP Watch published monthly discusses developments affecting industrial production in the global economy, by region and major economy, with regularly updated forecasts for the following two years.  Its unique indices of regional and global industrial production bring together data from 50 countries in a very timely and consistent basis.  These include all OECD countries, the major non-OECD economies of Asia and South America, Russia, Ukraine and South Africa.  A key feature of the report is the inclusion of CHR Economics’ own index of industrial production for China which takes account of the output of 70 data series across a very wide range of industries which are reported every month.

Each report discusses the latest published industrial production figures and leading indicators for all major economies and provides an early estimate of the most recent changes in global output. In addition, quarterly forecasts for each country in the index are shown for 12-18 months ahead. A global aggregate monthly forecast is projected some years into the future to highlight the evolution of the business cycle going forward.

Global IP Watch has been designed to provide producers and consumers of industrial raw materials with an up-to-date assessment of industrial activity around the world.  By focusing on the latest data, readers are alerted immediately to changes in sentiment and rates of growth, pinpointing turning points in the industrial business cycle.  While medium to longer-term forecasts are modelled on developments observed in earlier cycles, it is recognised that each cycle has its own characteristics.  By closely monitoring the key factors influencing growth, it is possible to modify forecasts in a timely manner providing the earliest possible warning of changes in the rate of global growth and likely demand for industrial products.
