Neuromodulation devices are used for regulating the nervous system to help alleviate pain, or control the symptoms of Parkinson’s, urinary urge incontinence or gastroparesis, among several others. Therapy can be delivered by electrically stimulating nerves or by targeted drug therapy, the latter of which does not fall within the scope of this analysis. Neuromodulation systems discussed in this report consist of an implantable pulse generator connected to one or more leads, which have electrodes on their opposite ends. The electrodes are connected to nerves or tissue desired for stimulation, and the implanted generator then delivers small pulses of electricity from an internal battery to the indicated area. This report covers the global markets for spinal cord stimulation (SCS), sacral nerve stimulation (SNS), deep brain stimulation (DBS), vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) and gastric electric stimulation (GES).
The full report suite on the global market for neuromodulation devices includes spinal cord stimulators, deep brain stimulators, vagus nerve stimulators, sacral nerve stimulators and gastric electric stimulators.
