Published in association with RenewableUK, The Irish Energy Storage Association and the Electricity Storage Network this map covers over 750 projects between the two countries. The map covers Battery Storage, Pumped Storage, Compressed air Storage, Pumped Heat Storage, Cryogenic storage and Flywheel projects. A set of symbols shows the general type. Each site is shown by location together with the promoter/operator and project capacity.

This subsection of the energy industry is in its infancy and will grow as more renewable energy sites (wind, solar & hydro mainly) add storage capacity as a means of maximising revenue returns. Also energy storage systems are being used for frequency response, peaking power and emergency back up.
