Mitochondria in Neurological Diseases highlights various therapeutic approaches targeting mitochondria in neurological conditions. Focused on diverse neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, depression, and Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, topics span basic mitochondrial physiology to mitochondrial dynamics and to the altered states of the nervous system. This book is appropriate for anyone interested in learning more about the physiological and pathophysiological functions of mitochondria in the nervous system.

Rajat Sandhir Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India. Dr. Sandhir obtained his M.Sc and Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh. He has been with the Panjab University, Chandigarh for more than 20 years. His research interests are to understand the biochemical and molecular mechanisms involved in development of neurodegenerative conditions like metabolic encephalopathies,?dementia's and?brain injury with a particular interest to understand role of oxidative stress, mitochondria and alterations in Blood-Brain-Barrier. In addition, his interest is also to identify neuroprotective strategies that could ameliorate neurodegenerative conditions. His recent work focuses on mitochondrial dysfunctions in various neurological conditions and to identify various mitochondrial modulators that may be beneficial in protecting nervous system He has over 175 papers to his credit and has mentored over two-dozen Ph.D. students. He has an h-index of 40 and i10 index of 97.
