The overall value of Vietnam's foodservice profit sector increased at a CAGR of 2.5% during 2017-22, standing at VND1,011.2 trillion ($43.7 billion) in 2022, despite reduction in the number of transactions. Takeaways and deliveries continued to play a crucial role in leading the value sales among foodservice businesses, especially in the quick-service restaurant (QSR) and full-service restaurant (FSR) channels. Value sales of dine-in services improved as tourism returned to full capacity. Independent operators led the profit sector in 2022. Both chain and independent operators registered growth in value during 2017-22 across all restaurant channels. During 2022-27, chain operators will continue to lead at a slightly faster CAGR of 11.6% than independent operators at 10.1%, with the overall profit sector registering a CAGR of 13.3%. Value growth in the sector will be supported by an increase in transaction count.
