Proving Attorney Fees in Litigation

What is better than winning your case or motion? The other side also paying your fees. The “American Rule” requires even a successful litigant to bear his or her own attorney fees, but there are exceptions to this general rule. Every practitioner should know what these exceptions include, and how to prepare a fee petition. Often overlooked is the fact that this preparation starts at the beginning of the case and can be years before a fee petition is actually filed. Do not wait until it is too late; learn the “dos” and “don’ts” of securing an attorney fee award.
