The global aneurysm clips market size was valued at USD 1.17 billion in 2024, driven by the incidence of cerebral aneurysms and abdominal aortic aneurysms across the globe. The market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.80% during the forecast period of 2025-2034, with the values likely to rise from USD 1.95 billion in 2025 to USD 2.06 billion by 2034.

Aneurysm Clips: Introduction

Aneurysm clips are used in an aneurysm clipping surgery. Aneurysm clipping is type of microsurgery that uses a metal surgical clip to close an aneurysm (bulging of a blood vessel) in the brain. It is performed by making a small hole in the skull to enter the brain.

Aneurysm clipping procedure reduces the chance of a life-threatening haemorrhagic stroke by closing the brain aneurysm and prevent the blood from entering different areas around the brain. Aneurysm clips come in different shapes, size, length, and curves and requires a clip applier to open the blades.

Global Aneurysm Clips Market Analysis

Haemorrhagic strokes make up around 10%-20% of the strokes annually. Ruptured aneurysm is a leading cause of a haemorrhagic stroke. In addition, aneurysm can lead to cerebrovascular diseases, subarachnoid haemorrhage, vasculitis CNS and paediatric vascular conditions. For patients suffering any of the aforementioned diseases, aneurysm clipping may be executed on an emergency basis. As a result, the global aneurysm clips market value has increased in the historic period.

Most aneurysm clips were made of cobalt-based alloys represented by Phenox and Elgiloy. In MRI and CT scans, cobalt alloys would create an image artifact, resulting in a failure to delineate the anatomical structures around the clips. Thus, medical practitioners shifted towards Titanium, owing to its ability to reduce the clip artifacts during imaging arrangements. Although, titanium still holds a substantial share of the market, researchers have been working on a new approach.

Aneurysm clips made from fibre-reinforced plastics are the latest development. This material takes several parameters into account including a miniature size, mechanical forces, wide opening of the jaws, along with biocompatibility and easy visibility in MRI.

In addition, to facilitate continuous manufacturing of thermoplastic FRP miniature rods, pre-impregnated tape material has been established. Carbon-fibre reinforced PA12 sample rods have shown decent results while PEEK sample rods require some deeper research. Nonetheless, such developments indicate that the global aneurysm clips market growth is certain during the forecast period.

Aneurysm Clips Market Overview

With the rising prevalence of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, excessive drug, tobacco or alcohol consumption, the population is at a significantly higher risk of aneurysm rupture. Cerebral aneurysms affect approximately 3% to 5% of the general population whereas abdominal aortic aneurysms are becoming more common with each decade. The increasing incidence has resulted in substantial aneurysm clips market demand.

North America is anticipated to lead the global market in the coming years as well with the increasing prevalence of neurological and cardiovascular disorders, with the preference for minimally invasive surgical procedures are the leading factors for growth in the region. The rising emphasis on bringing innovative developments to make the treatment successful and efficient is an added feature, which is anticipated to aid the aneurysm clips market share of the region.

The Asia-pacific market is expected to witness an exponential growth, mainly because of the presence of an aging population. The budding economies like India, South Korea, China, Japan, and Singapore will play the significant role in market growth in the forecast period.
